Accessories

The distinction between an everyday outfit and a chic outfit is the fashion accessories. They include scarves, hats, belts, bags and sunglasses. The items you choose to add to your outfit depends on the overall look you want to achieve. Different pieces can transition you from day to night or from official to casual.

With fashion accessories, you should play to your strengths. Bring attention to gorgeous eyes with a scarf that make their color live, a small waist with a belt or legs that go on for days with killer heels. It is important to know your body type, your problem areas and the areas that make you feel like a specimen of an absolute rarity. Bags also accentuate your frame. Tall, thin women, can pull off big and slouchy purses while short women should stick to smaller bags to avoid looking like messy and overwhelmed.

Less is more when it comes to fashion accessories, wearing several statement pieces will have you looking like an extra in a Christmas play. Pick one statement item then keep the others subtle to come off as classy. As Coco Chanel said, “Before you leave the house, take off one thing,” words to live. With color, follow the same rule. Avoid colors that don’t smoothly blend. Pull in the reins despite how sunny you’re feeling. Keep it to a maximum of three colors at a time. Gold and silver do not go together at all.

Consider the overall style you want to achieve. Are you preppy, sporty or a punk type? There simple accessories such as earrings define a style. Pearl earrings are, while skulls are punk. Wearing studded shoes makes a look a bit punk while wearing trainers tells the world that you are a sportier individual. Avoid mixing and matching too many styles as you end up looking confused. Simplicity and comfort are key. Your personality is the backdrop for your style choice.
